Opened just after Memorial Day in the familiar blue-trimmed building at the base of Old Mission Peninsula, Blue Goat Wine & Provsions has been completely renovated by new owners, Linda Price, Amanda Danielson and Sebastian Garbsch. The shop’s new ownership team is resurrecting this Traverse City icon with a fresh, forward vision driven by unique products, knowledgeable staff and attentive customer service. Modeled after stylish big city neighborhood wine boutiques, the store’s airy well-lit interior has polished wood floors and chic black horizontal display racks.
Aiming to take the intimidation out of wine buying while encouraging guests to broaden their wine horizons, Blue Goat Wine & Provisions organizes its inventory stylistically by flavor profile instead of by grape varietal or region. The leading section titled “Floral, Crisp, Versatile,” features selections from Loire Valley sauvignon blanc to Portugese verdelho ranging in price from $9 to $30 per bottle. All of the wines are curated by Danielson and draw from her extensive network of relationships with local and international winemakers, importers and distributors to provide customers with maximum value and diversity.
To complement its wine selections, Blue Goat Wine & Provisions features an array of artisan food products from high profile Michigan producers like Zingerman’s and McClure’s as well as craft beers and ciders. The Blue Goat showcases its products at weekly Friday tastings and offers monthly wine club subscription services like its ‘Case for $100’ program.
